How we reviewed the grills
I and my wife had the pleasure of testing a variety of grills under 200$ and to give you the best information possible we did a few tests to the grills in combination with a close inspection on the materials and design.
We have literally grilled close to all the meals this month, everything from breakfast to dinner. We found that grilling pancakes were one of the best methods to test the grills. This showed the heat distribution throughout the cooking surface.
We cooked, measured temperatures, scratched the cooking surface to test its durability and more!
What to look for if you are going to find a grill yourself
The grill market today is packed with different brands, prices, materials and features making it hard for you as a consumer to find the grill thats suits you and your needs.
when you are looking to find a grill on your own there are a few specifics we always look at and those are:
- Portability or Usage
I am not going to explain my entire process since that would need an entire article itself, but here are a short overview of my thinking process and requirements for a new grill.
The size is an important factor to look at when you are out shopping for the best grill. You need to keep in mind how large of a grill you can fit on your porch or the car if you are looking for a portable version.
In addition to this, you need to keep in mind how much food you are going to prepare. There is a big difference in terms of the need between a couple and a big family.
A simple rule is 100 square inches for each person, so if you have a family of 10 I would recommend you go for a 1000 square inches grill. This is not a rule that is set in stone, but it can be helpful when you are at the store.
To keep the entire grilling surface sufficiently warm you need enough power and heat. We recommend you to have 1 burner per 200 square inches of cooking space.
When you are looking to purchase a new grill you should ensure you that most of it are built of stainless steel. Materials we always try to avoid is plastic and aluminum since these do tend to get rusty and bad with the years.
All the points above will heavily depend on the usage of the grill, if you are looking for a huge grill to have on your porch you wouldnt necessarily need a grill that can be collapsible and portable. We have articles on every grill usage possible, everything from best portable grills to best small grills, do a quick google search or look at our homepage if there is a specific grill you are looking for.
We understand that choosing your next grill isn’t an easy choice, but if you make use of our top 10 list I am sure you will be pleased with your purchase since most of these grills have been through strict and close inspections through us and our team.
Send us a message if there is anything you feel we should have included or added to this article.
